Your Branded App got rejected by Apple. Frustrating, but rarely fatal. Most rejections fall into 3-4 well-known buckets — and we handle the resubmission process for you.
Who handles this?
If your Branded App was submitted under our enterprise developer account (the default), Eatsy handles the rejection response. You don't need to do anything except wait — usually 3-5 days for resubmission and re-review.
Quick context
- Average approval time: 5-7 business days end-to-end (Apple takes 3-5, we take 1-2 to handle responses).
- Rejection rate on first submission: roughly 15%. Most rejections are minor.
- Total rejection (app permanently denied): under 1%. Always recoverable in our experience.
The 4 most common rejection reasons
1. Guideline 4.2 — Minimum Functionality
Apple sometimes flags restaurant ordering apps as "essentially a website wrapped in a shell." This is the number-one reason for rejection.
How we resolve it. We rebuild the rejected build with additional native features (push notifications properly hooked up, native location services, native Apple Pay integration) and resubmit. Adds 2-3 days.
2. Guideline 5.1.1 — Privacy / Data Collection
Apple requires explicit privacy disclosures for any data your app collects (email, phone, order history, location). The rejection comes if our default privacy disclosure doesn't match what's actually being collected.
How we resolve it. We update the App Store listing's privacy nutrition labels to match your specific configuration, then resubmit. Usually approved on resubmission.
3. Guideline 2.3.7 — Misleading Metadata
Your app's name, subtitle, or screenshots imply features that aren't actually in the app. Common cause: marketing copy in the screenshots ("get 10% off your first order!") that isn't actually shown anywhere in the app's UI.
How we resolve it. We update screenshots to match what the user actually sees in the app. Usually approved on resubmission within 1-2 days.
4. Trademark or brand issue
Your app name or icon is too close to an existing trademarked brand. Rare for restaurants but happens occasionally.
How we resolve it. We work with you to either acquire rights or change the app name. Adds 5-10 days depending on resolution.
What you can do
Don't panic
Rejections are routine. We've shipped more than 100 apps; rejections happen and we handle them.
Send us the rejection email
Apple sends the rejection notice to the developer-account email (Eatsy's, by default). If you happen to receive it, forward to support@eatsyorders.com.
Wait for our resubmission
We'll email you within 24 hours with a plan and timeline. No action needed from your end in roughly 95% of cases.
When you'd need to act
If the rejection is for trademark reasons, we'll loop you in to discuss either acquiring rights to the disputed name or rebranding. This is the only rejection type that requires your decision.
If you used your own developer account
If your Branded App was submitted under your own developer account (rare — by default we use ours), then Apple's rejection email goes directly to you. Forward it to support@eatsyorders.com immediately so we can respond. Apple gives a deadline (usually 14 days) before the submission is closed.
When to contact us
For any Apple App Store status question, email support@eatsyorders.com or call +1-929-413-3080. Include your restaurant name and the rejection date if you have it.
